JOURNEY OF ORGANIZATION

JAN GRAMIN VIKAS SANSTHAN – ‘JGVS’ ( To establish the exploitation free society based on the principle of social equity ) , is a social development organization working in underdeveloped regions of Uttar Pradesh in India over 31years to create positive and enduring change in lives of communities who living in abject poverty and undue inequality. It was founded in 1988 and registered under a society act 1860 in 1989-90. Its genesis is deeply rooted in Gandhian thought of rural development. Therefore the Gandhian ideology of integrated rural reconstruction is the key guiding principle. ‘JGVS’ does this through implementing well contemplated and intended programmes in Child Development, Health, Nutrition & WASH, Sustainable Livelihoods, Gender and Governance, Natural Resource Management and Climate Change themes. The core of the program implementation lies in community action and empowerment of powerless.

The 1988-1990 has been the foundation period for ‘JGVS’. The 1991-1995 has been the learning and institutional growth period, 1996-2000 has been period for scale-up of programs and themes, 2001-2010 has been period of scaling-up geography, perspective building, enhancement in visibility, and partnering with other grass-root level organizations, 2011-2015 has been period of strengthening the thematic expertise. After reaching at a stage; ‘JGVS’ did its first strategic planning for 05 years in 2001 and second in 2006 for 5 years. In early 2006; ‘JGVS’ developed its Theory of Change (ToC) for next 10 years. Now ‘JGVS’ designs and aligns its all development interventions in line with its well formulated ToC and Sustainable Development Goals. The head office of the organization is located in NEAR RAILWAY STATION JAKHNIYAN, 45 Km from GHAZIPUR DISTRICT UTTAR PRADESH. ‘JGVS’ has also a small Project Office in other District (AZAMGARH , VARANASI). This office concentrates on liaisoning people for social change and policy advocacy at the District level on the issues emerged from Village, in which community level interventions are going on. ‘JGVS’ is also facilitating and hosting a WOEKSHOP on Skill Development, Environmental consevation , livelihood ,WaSH and Women empowerment etc.

Message from chairperson JGVS start to organize the women from Dalit and deprived group on the issue of Livelihood and their basic Human Rights. The JGVS starts its activities with CBO promotion, livelihood promotion activities, Community education ,water, sanitation and hygiene (WaSH),environmental conservation promotion and gradually focused on the realization of social entitlements through Panchyat. With a vision “To strengthen the rural women and marginalized section of the society who belongs to scheduled caste and tribes. Make that place where peace and equality prevails without any discrimination on the basis of caste and religion” and mission “To prepare future leaders from the most deprived section of our society – Vanvashi , dalit, women and children through the process of capacity building. Forming an organization where people have collective actions and contributions to make society a better place .Each and every individual have growth, respect and equal opportunities irrespective of their gender identity.” Jan Grameen Vikas sansthan (JGVS) is committed to work for inclusive growth concept for community.
